OUR EMPLOYEES
Kristin, BSC Customer Service Representative, Coast Guard Island Alameda
Legally blind due to Aniridia, she worked with an organization in her area called Sensory Access in the Bay Area. They were able to arrange an internship that brought her to the AbilityOne BSC at NASA Ames Research Center in 2004.
Over the past several years, she has come out of her shell as a diligent employee and stepped up to take ownership of her role, her store and her team.
Her low vision hasn’t slowed her from enjoying abstract drawing and painting. In addition to her creativity, she has built her leadership skills as a member of Toastmasters and volunteering at the Santa Clara Valley Blind Center. The best part of Kristin’s hobbies, square dancing!
Michelle, Customer Care Specialist, Naval Station Great Lakes
Michelle has worked at Beyond Vision for over twenty years, most of those years spent at the Base Supply Center Naval Station Great Lakes as a customer care specialist. Michelle has had an active role in planning the BSC customer appreciation day at Great Lakes taking over almost complete execution of the event a couple of years ago.
A little over a year ago, Michelle expanded her skills and became the first satellite customer care specialist for Beyond Vision’s call center. Change is difficult for most people but particularly hard for a vision-impaired person. Michelle overcame her anxiety and mastered her new dual role. Michelle saw growth in her JAWS, Excel, Outlook and over all communication skills.
Kris, Assistant BSC Manager, Fort McCoy
Kris started at the Base Supply Center in November of 2008.
Her hard work has made her the first BSC staff member to be promoted to a management position. And it’s well deserved. She has also been named our Employee of the Year two times
If you ask her manager, Gisele, she would tell you, “She is amazing, our customers love her and she receives hugs all day from them. I cannot tell you how blessed I am to have her on my team!!”
